Hello IB Students!
The season for letters of recommendation is upon us! When considering a teacher to write your letter of recommendation, choose a teacher who you feel knows you well, has seen you grow, and can attest to your work ethic. Also, consider your potential major in college. Choosing a teacher with a background in your desired field can be beneficial.
Normally, I would require you to ask me in person for a letter, however, times have changed! In order to request a letter I REQUIRE a few things of you:
1. Consider whether I am the right person to write your letter.
2. Reflect on your work ethic in my class. This should be a determining factor in whether or not you ask me for a recommendation. I will not put my name on a recommendation that I do not believe in.
3. Request a letter through Email/REMIND/or Text.
4. When I have agreed - there are FOUR more steps to follow.
a. Set up your Naviance Account and REQUEST me. This gives me access to your information.
b. Complete your RESUME on Naviance - be thorough. There is no insignificant experience.
c. Complete the ENGLISH TEACHER BRAG SHEET under the "PLAN" tab.
d. Send a text to 81010 and type the message @lor2. This allows me to contact you via text regarding your LOR. DO NOT sign up for REMIND without an agreement on your letter of rec.
I cannot write an effective letter WITHOUT your help. Your Naviance Resume and Brag Sheet are essential to the content of your letter. If these are NOT complete - I will NOT write a letter!
IMPORTANT: I ONLY work through Naviance. If your institution requires a direct recommendation, I am happy to do that (i.e. Julliard, military schools, BYU, etc.) but I WILL NOT sign up for any new service sites or accounts, such as Coalition Application System, etc. If this precludes me from writing your letter of recommendation, I understand.
FINAL NOTE: I have never missed a deadline! BUT ... you know me and I am a last minute champ, who burns the candle and both ends! If this will stress you out ... I am not your gal!
I wish you all the best of luck!
